HOW TO INSTALL DCP SYNCHRONIZATION CLIENT & SYNC FOLDERS

Installing the Desktop Client

1. We recommend Nextcloud sync client. Click on the link below to get the sync client download file for installation: https://nextcloud.com/install/#install-clients

2. Click on “Download for desktop” and another page opens as per below.

3. Click on “Windows 10” for Windows operating system and the installation file pop-up. Click Save File” and usually, is saved to “Download” folder unless saved to other location.

Notes: Nextcloud 3.1.3 version supports Windows 7 / Windows 7 64 / Windows 8 / Windows 8 64 / Windows 10 / Windows 10 64

4. Go to the “Download” folder and double click on the Nextcloud client installation file.

5. Nextcloud syn client set-up wizard appears. Click “Next”.

6. Another instruction box appear and save to C:\Program Files\Nextcloud and click “Next”.

7. Again, when the following appears, click “Install”.

8. Your desktop User Account Control would seek your permission to allow the app make changes to your device. Click “Yes” to allow changes to your device.

9. Give a minute or two for installation to complete. Once the installation is completed, click “Finish”.

10. Allow the desktop to restart after the installation – click “Yes”.

11. Look for Nextcloud sync client which is represented by Nextcloud logo:

12. Double click on the sync client and the sync client control panel appears as follows, click the downward arrow for menu then click “Add Account” to add your DCP account.

13. Since you already have your DCP account, click on “Log in to your Nextcloud“.

14. To connect your sync client to your DCP account, type in your DCP log in URL. In the example below, the log in URL is https://dcp.vo.my then click “Next”.

15. You will see the following page and please click “Log in” to proceed to the log in page.

16. You are now at your Log In page. Key in your username and password and click “Log in”.

17. Grant access to your desktop sync client to your DCP account - click “Grant Access”.

18. Once you have granted access and linked your DCP account to the sync client, your DCP username / ID would appear on the sync client. In the example below, you see DCP username “Demo”.

19. Now, you can start selecting the folders on your server or desktop to be synched up to your DCP account by selecting “Setting” as seen in above image.

20. A connection wizard appears on the screen. WARNING: Noticed that by default, the selection is “Sync everything from server” and if this is not what you want, select “Choose what to sync” then click “Connect”.

21. A box pop-up as per below. Click “Choose” .

22. Your local File Explorer opens-up. Look for the folder or file to sync to your DCP account. In this example, we select “Sync Client” folder then click “Select Folder”.

23. The “Add Folder Sync Connection” box appears and as seen below the folder “Sync Client” and its location path has been selected. Click “Next”.

24. Another box pop-up. This time, it shows remote folders that have been created on your DCP account. Look for the matching folder and select it, click “Next”.

Tips: Always create a folder on your DCP account first and name it same as your local folder which is to be sync. In this example, “Sync Client” folder has been pre-created on DCP for this sync purpose. If the matching folder was not pre-created on the DCP account, you can still create it at this stage by click on “Create folder”, instead of abandoning this process and go to your DCP web account to create it there.

25. When you see the following on your screen, click “Add Sync Connection” and the selected folder with its contents would be synced to your DCP account, accordingly.

26. Once the synching is done, the local folder that have been synced to DCP shall appear on your sync client as seen in the image below.

27. Whereas the selected local folder on your server or desktop shall have the sync client’s logo over it or a green tick as per images below:

The green tick signifies that the folder is online and connected to your DCP account.

If the tick symbol is grey, it means, internet is not available or disconnected from your device or you are logged-out.

Removing Synched Folder

1. If you wish to remove a local folder from syncing to your DCP account, click on the sync client to call up the sync client control panel, click the downward arrow symbol, a drop down menu appears as per below, click “Settings”.

2. The Settings page open as per below. Click the three dots at the right side of the synched folder to be removed. In this example, “Sync Client” folder.

3. A side menu appears and it is recommended that you pause the sync first before removing the folder from the sync client by clicking on “Pause sync”.

4. When the sync has been paused for the selected folder, the green tick is replaced with 2 vertical lines as per image below.

5. Then click the 3 dots again at the right side and this time, select “Remove folder sync connection” and click “Remove Folder Sync Connection” again.

6. Once sync is removed, the folder no longer appears on the sync client.

Notes: * Removing the synched folder from the sync client would not delete the local folder & its contents from the local server or desktop, nor would it also delete the folder & its contents from your DCP account. * Therefore, if you do not wish to have any traces of the removed sync local folder on your DCP account, please delete the same folder on your DCP account accordingly. * The deleted folder from your DCP account could still be recovered from “Deleted files” section, located at the bottom left of your DCP web account, unless you further delete it permanently. The end.
